What’s a fair price for a quality psychic reading these days?

I’m new to this whole psychic reading thing and wondering what I should expect to pay if I want a reading that’s actually worth it. I’ve seen everything from $1 a minute to $10+ a minute online and in various apps. How much is reasonable for a decent reader who isn’t just trying to milk you for free minutes or endless chat? Also, do longer readings usually cost less per minute? Would appreciate some clear ideas based on experience.

You say you’ve seen everything from $1 to $10 a minute. That’s a huge spread. What’s the evidence you’ve found that the pricier services actually deliver better insight? I’d want to see some proof beyond just a high rate to justify.*

Most places charge 2-5 bucks a minute for a decent reading.

If you’re new try a 15-minute intro session. Usually cheaper per minute and you get a feel for the reader.

Longer readings sometimes come with discounts but not always. Check the fine print on billing before you start.

Keep it simple.

Around $3-$5 a minute is realistic for a solid reader. Under $2 is usually beginner or super short. Over $7? That’s premium or maybe overpriced.

I think pricing isn’t just about minutes but also about the style of reading.

For example, a 30-minute tarot spread that focuses on three key areas might cost $4 a minute, but the deeper symbolism and card combinations make it worthwhile.

A lot depends on the reader’s connection and how they interpret the cards. I’ve paid around $5 a minute for readings that felt very insightful because the reader focused on symbolism rather than just quick answers.

Also, if the psychic uses specific spreads like the Celtic Cross or Nine Card, it usually takes longer but feels more thorough. So think about what you want: quick guidance or detailed insight.

Here’s what I look for when budgeting: 1) Check if the site offers free minutes for first-time users. 2) Confirm whether rates vary by reader experience and specialty. 3) Watch for platforms that bill in small increments (like per 30 seconds) instead of full minutes. 4) Read the refund policy carefully—some sites offer partial refunds if you’re unhappy. 5) Avoid subscriptions unless they offer a clear cost benefit or package you want.

I want to highlight something from amber-moth’s list. “Avoid subscriptions unless they offer a clear cost benefit or package you want.” Subscriptions often sound cheap but lock you in and can push you to spend more over time without realizing it. Also, be wary of the rush some readers put on you to spend more minutes quickly.

If you’re just starting, test the waters with a one-time session. Some platforms let you buy a small block of minutes—for instance, 20 minutes at $4 per—which is easier to control than an open-ended plan.

And finally, if the reader offers free or discounted first minutes, use them to decide if their style fits you. Pricing alone doesn’t mean quality. Look for clear communication and honest answers as signs of a good reader.

I agree with the $3 to $5 a minute bracket as a practical standard.

Anything below that is usually less experienced or automated. Above it, you should expect something very focused or specialized.

Just remember, no psychic is going to really “predict” your future with certainty. It’s more guidance and interpretation, so don’t get caught chasing expensive guarantees.

Thanks everyone, this really helped clarify things for me. From what I gather:

1) $3-$5 per minute is the typical range for a reading with a decent reader.
2) New users might get free or discounted first minutes to try out.
3) Longer readings sometimes reduce the per-minute rate but it varies.
4) Different spreads (like the Celtic Cross) and styles can affect price and depth.
5) Subscriptions are risky unless they offer real savings.

One more thing: How do you politely dispute a charge if a reading ends up taking more minutes than expected? Has anyone had to do that?
