hey all, so i tried a chat reading on LunaPsychic last night and it felt kinda off. the psychic kept drifting off-topic, like i asked about a new job and she started talking about her cats and then some random dream she had. it was confusing and honestly, a bit frustrating. has anyone else noticed this strange vibe with psychics on luna? or was i just unlucky with this one?

hi ember_wren_x, i think sometimes psychics do get a bit personal. for me it’s part of the connection, makes things more real. maybe she was trying to relate, just a style thing? i’ve had some deep chats there that felt really meaningful so maybe it varies a lot.

that does sound kind of distracting. i’ve used LunaPsychic a couple of times and never had that happen. my readers usually keep pretty focused on what i ask about, like relationships or career moves. but i guess sometimes they can get caught up in their own stories. i tend to set a timer or a spending limit so if the chat gets weird or not helpful, i can stop without losing too much. might help if you try another reader there and see if it’s a pattern or just a one-off experience.

i think if a psychic goes off-topic that much it’s a sign to end the session. not worth the money or time. i don’t even bother with chat readings that long anyway.

i’ve been diving into online psychics for years, and i’ve had some odd experiences myself. there was this one reader on luna who started the session talking about tarot cards, then suddenly switched to a story about a family member. i was confused at first but then realized sometimes they weave personal tales to connect or illustrate points. still, it can derail the reading if not handled well. maybe it’s about how the psychic balances storytelling and staying on track. your experience might just be an example of that, not necessarily a red flag.

hey ember_wren_x, as a tarot hobbyist, i find it super important that psychics keep the focus on the cards and the question asked. sometimes when they get too personal or off-topic it throws off the reading’s energy. it reminds me of when the hanged man appears in a spread—signaling patience and pause. maybe your psychic was trying to tap into a deeper layer but lost the thread. you might want to try asking for a specific spread or even just get a reading from a different psychic who explicitly says they stick to the card meanings and your questions. it helps me feel grounded during readings.

thanks everyone for the input! to add, it was late at night so maybe she was a bit tired or distracted? i noted the psychic’s name was Marta, and i did like that she seemed friendly but yeah, the chat kept shifting from my job to weird personal anecdotes and then even some astrology stuff that i didn’t ask for. i don’t mind some chatting but when i’m paying for a reading i want it to feel focused. i’ll probably try another reader next time and maybe see if a phone or video call works better.

i totally get where you’re coming from ember_wren_x. as someone who does tarot, i’ve seen readers switch gears quickly when they catch a certain card vibe but it should relate to your question. an off-topic tangent feels like a disconnect. also, with chat readings it’s easier for focus to slip compared to voice or video. if you want to try again on LunaPsychic, maybe ask upfront if the psychic stays strictly on-topic. some readers prefer a free-flow style, others stick to the question more tightly.

i usually cap my chat minutes at 15 max because sometimes conversations get long and kind of repetitive or off-track like you describe here. luna’s rates are about $2 a minute which can add up fast if the psychic drifts off topic. i like to start with a short session just to feel the vibe and then decide if i want to spend more. if the psychic seems unfocused or goes off into personal stuff that i didn’t ask for, i just end it and try someone else next time. also i check if there’s a refund policy for chats that don’t feel worth it. might be worth checking luna’s policies before your next try.

i’ve found that some readers just have different approaches. for me it’s important they stick close to the cards and my question.

i’m kind of skeptical about chat readings in general. it’s so easy for things to get lost or for readers to get distracted. your story about the psychic talking about cats and dreams really sounds like they weren’t focused. maybe try a different platform or a different medium, like phone or video. sometimes the vibe is just off and it’s hard to tell if it’s the psychic or the tech or something else. glad you shared this, it’s good to hear about these weird experiences so others know what to expect.

reading all your replies really helps me figure out what to expect next time. i think i’ll avoid long chat sessions with too many tangents and maybe ask for upfront rules about how the psychic handles the session. also, lowering my spending limit sounds smart. a few people mentioned phone or video might offer better focus, so i’ll give that a shot. thanks again, everyone. feels better to know i wasn’t just imagining the weirdness.
