Is it normal for psychic sites to charge per minute or per question?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been looking into psychic readings recently, mostly online stuff. I noticed something that’s confusing me about how they charge for their services. One site I checked out charges by the minute, like $3.50 per minute for a chat reading. Another one charges a fixed price for each question you ask, regardless of how long the reader takes.

Is one of these billing models more common or better? I guess charging per minute sounds straightforward, but I worry it might encourage rushing or feeling pressured to stop early. Charging by question feels fair for me since I might have just a couple of things I want to know.

Does anyone have experience or insight about this? Maybe which way is more typical or recommended to avoid surprises on the bill? Thanks!

Pretty sure both models have been around forever. But where’s the proof one is better? Any evidence someone got more honest readings from one over the other?

Look, if you want my take, just pick the one that’s clear upfront about pricing.

Per minute is pretty usual, but it means you really have to watch the clock and stop when you hit your limit. Per question can work but expect the reader to maybe limit the depth or give shorter answers.

Personally, I like per minute because if you have a complex issue you can get more real-time clarifications. But the site should clearly show the rate and have a timer or chat limit visible.

Don’t get lured in by a cheap per question price if it means the answers are vague or incomplete. Also, read reviews about how the billing is handled; sometimes per question can have hidden fees.

In summary:
1) Check clear pricing.
2) Know if you prefer short answers or detailed consultation.
3) Don’t pay upfront for multiple questions without knowing the refund policy.

Hope that helps.

It’s interesting to think about how the billing style might affect the reading itself. When I do tarot readings for friends, I usually don’t time them strictly, but online services have to.

Charging per minute kind of turns the reading into a timed session, which could make the psychic rush through their insights or skim over deeper symbolism. When I read cards like the Lovers or the Hermit, those need reflection, not a quick take.

Charging per question might encourage concise answers, but then the question has to be well-formed. For example, a good tarot question might be “What should I know about my career path this year?” instead of just “Will I get a job?”

I imagine the best place might be somewhere in between: per minute for a set block but with a reasonable minimum and maximum, or per question with some follow-up room.

I agree with harbor97 that surprises on the bill can be stressful; that’s the last thing you want when seeking guidance. Also, some readers mention cards drawn during the reading or spreads used, so if you’re paying per minute you might catch more nuances.

I’ve noticed some apps also offer flat rates for longer sessions, which can feel more relaxed. Overall, I feel like the billing should match how much depth you want, though that’s not always clear from the site descriptions.

I like per question better so I can think about what I really want to ask. Sometimes when chatting per minute, it feels like the reader’s rushing to keep it short.

Thanks all for the thoughts so far. After reading gardener.max88’s points, I looked a bit more at the site that charges per question and their FAQs mention something about refunding if the question’s not answered properly.

That seems like a good practice? But then, how do you prove a question wasn’t answered well? I remember once talking to a reader who pulled the Tower card, and I wasn’t sure if that meant bad news or just change. If that was per question, I’d worry about being left unsure.

I guess with per minute bills you can ask for clarifications on the spot, which feels safer, but also like moon_ferry99 said, this can feel rushed.

Overall, I’m leaning toward trying a short per minute reading first, just to see if that suits me before risking a fixed question price.

I find that readings are really about connection, and sometimes the billing style can affect that vibe. I’ve done phone readings where they charged per minute, and it got a bit awkward because I kept watching the clock.

On a site I tried last month, they charged per question, which helped me focus my questions better and not feel rushed. It was like having the reader’s full attention on each point.

Just remember that every psychic and site does things differently. Maybe try small sessions first and check if the billing feels fair and clear before committing to a bigger reading.

I had a recent chat reading that was $4 per minute. I felt pressured to get to the point fast. When I saw a site charging $10 per question, I thought it might be better for deep stuff, but not if questions are vague.

i kinda like the idea of per question more. sometimes with per minute i forget to be precise and then the clock runs up fast without me realizing

but also, if someone’s a fast talker or slower thinker, per question might feel tricky. a question could take longer to explain or unpack, so maybe per minute lets the convo breathe better?

i guess i’m still undecided but thankful for the different takes here. pretty sure i’ll try a short per minute one first, like harbor97 said. maybe start with 10 mins max.

also, some sites let you see reviews of readers and how they handle questions or time, so that might help decide.

i feel like the important thing is clarity upfront. no surprises. per minute or per question — doesn’t matter if it’s clear.

Just my two cents: per minute is more common and usually better for longer or more complex readings.

Per question might oversimplify or end up costing more if you have multiple doubts.

Keep an eye on refund policies and whether the site allows you to end sessions anytime.

I’ve reviewed terms and conditions on several platforms. Here’s what I noticed:

1) Per minute charges mean you pay exactly for the time used, which can be controlled by the user.
2) Per question charges require very clear question definitions to avoid confusion.
3) Refunds or session disputes are harder with per question since ‘answered’ is subjective.

Check if the billing includes taxes or service fees.

Also, some platforms have limits per session: for example, a 15-minute minimum or max 5 questions, which can alter cost-effectiveness.

Read the FAQs and user comments carefully before committing.

I prefer per minute. It’s transparent and I can stop when I feel like I have what I need.

I’ve found per minute charging lets you get more interaction, especially if you want to follow up on answers. Per question often means shorter, less comprehensive replies.

One time I paid per question and the psychic just gave two-sentence answers that felt rushed. On a per minute site, I had a female reader who took her time, explained the spread, and let me ask things naturally as they came up.

Billing per minute can be tricky though: some platforms bill immediately as you start chatting, so if you’re not prepared, you might get charged for silence or waiting.

So if you pick per minute, check if the platform shows a timer and lets you end whenever. Also look for refund policies if the reading feels unrelated.

Personally, I trust per minute more for honest readings but I understand why others prefer per question for budgeting.

harbor97 said, “Charging per question feels fair for me since I might have just a couple of things I want to know.” I get that, but I wonder how you judge fairness if a question gets a very short answer vs a detailed one.

I’m generally skeptical of psychic sites, so I look for transparency and clear terms more than the billing model itself.

Per minute might encourage readers to keep you engaged, but also could push them to speed up or prolong unnecessarily.

Per question sounds like it should be straightforward, but often the definition of a ‘question’ varies — is a multi-part question one or many? That’s where I feel some sites get fuzzy.

I’d also be curious if anyone found one model less prone to unexpected charges. That’s where reviews and community feedback help a lot.

Appreciate the varied views here. To me, it sounds like per minute feels more flexible but needs attention to timing, while per question simplifies budgeting but risks less depth.

I might start with a short reading on a per minute site, setting a clear limit, then try a per question reading to compare.

Also, I’ll definitely be checking refund policies and clarifying billing details before paying. Feels like the best way to avoid surprises.
