Confused by a tarot spread about career changes, need insights

Hi everyone,

I had a 10-card Celtic Cross reading yesterday focused on my current career situation, hoping for some clarity. But honestly, the cards seem kind of contradictory, and I’m struggling to piece together what the reader meant.

The significator was the Eight of Pentacles reversed, which the reader said might indicate feeling stuck or unmotivated at work. But then the crossing card was the Ace of Wands upright, which feels like a spark or new energy coming in.

Further along, the card for recent past was the Five of Cups reversed, suggesting moving past disappointment. The near future card was the Two of Swords, which the reader cautioned about indecision. But then the hopes and fears card was the Sun upright, meaning positivity and success, which seems oddly optimistic.

Has anyone else had these cards show up in a career spread? How would you interpret the mix of feeling stuck but also hopeful? I’m eager to hear thoughts or different perspectives on what the reader might have been trying to convey here. Thanks!

I notice your reading highlights both opportunities and challenges.

1) The Eight of Pentacles reversed as significator can mean burnout or lack of focus.

2) The Ace of Wands crossing suggests a potential spark, maybe a new idea or project.

3) The Two of Swords near future implies a decision point you might be avoiding.

4) The Sun as hopes/fears shows you want success but might worry if it’s realistic.

Try to view these cards as a timeline: moving from past disappointment toward a hopeful future but still needing a decision.

Forget the fluff. If you feel stuck, the reading just confirms it. The Ace of Wands means nothing if you’re not ready to change.

Indecision (Two of Swords) is your real problem. You need to make a choice or you’ll stay stuck. The Sun might be wishful thinking.

Stop looking for signs and make a plan. Pick a direction and go.

Two of Swords means you know the choice but don’t want to act on it. The Sun is just what you hope, not a promise.

Thanks all for your insights! I like seeing this as a timeline too. The Eight of Pentacles reversed definitely feels like burnout; I’ve been working long hours with little progress lately.

The Ace of Wands as a spark makes sense because the reader mentioned a new job opportunity or creative idea might be coming.

The Two of Swords near future struck me as very true—I’ve been avoiding making a final decision about switching fields because it feels risky.

And the Sun as hopes and fears shows that deep down I do want a positive outcome and success, but I’m scared it won’t materialize.

It helps to frame the spread this way. I think I’ll journal on the indecision part to find out what’s really holding me back before rushing into anything.

Sounds like you already know the problem: stuck and indecisive. The cards just confirm it.

You won’t get anywhere without a choice. Keep hoping for the Sun all you want, but get moving.
